Best Ways to Setup a Closet Grow Room

If you are serious in setting up your hydroponic system, you need a closet grow room that will house your grow boxes containing the various plants that you intend to grow.

To build your closet grow room, you should follow these three main steps.

Step 1: Specify an area for your closet grow room.

The area that you will choose should be enough for the number of grow boxes that you will use for your hydroponic system. Typically, for one set of plants you will need three grow boxes.

Step 2: Install a sufficient lighting system for the closet grow room.

Since you will be relying on the lighting system instead of sunlight, you should have enough amount of light for all your plants. If possible, you can setup fiberglass roofing to provide a better source of light to your plants. You should ensure that the light is well-distributed across the room with one part that has high concentration. This is where your hydroponic system will be placed.

Step 3: Prepare the grow boxes.

You will need three grow boxes, the mother, clone and flowering boxes. The mother area is where plants are grown the normal way, which is by using soil. When the plants are ready for the hydroponic setup, cuttings are taken and transferred to the clone area. You will have to wait for the clones to grow and start to enter the flowering stage. Once it reaches this stage, the plant is transferred to another grow box where hydroponics setup is applied. At this stage, a separate lighting system should be installed for the grow box. This is the part of the closet grow room where more light is dispersed.

This process requires close monitoring and there is a regular transfer of plants from one grow box to another as your plants grow and become mature.

The closet grow room should have enough space for the grow boxes and the movements that will happen in growing the plants. A separate space for tools and for other work requirements can be included in one corner of your grow room. Further, water connections and piping should be near the grow boxes for easy hydroponics setup.

With careful planning of the arrangements and in consideration of the several phases that need to happen as you grow your plants, your closet grow room should be well-maintained and lighted to ensure optimum and satisfactory results.
